The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, has fought since 1920 to improve our systems of government and impact public policies through citizen education and advocacy.  The League's enduring vitality and resonance comes from its unique decentralized structure.  The league is a grassroots organization, working at the national, state and local levels.

In March 2010, the State Board of the League of Women Voters recognized the League of Women Voters of Sanibel as a local league.

Goals for 2010-2011
  • We will sponsor debates of candidates for local political office.
  • We will attend Sanibel Council, Planning Commission, and other important meetings concerning local issues.
  • Local issues study groups will be formed as determined by the interests of members.
  • An important focus this year will be the creation of the organizational structure for the Sanibel MAL unit within the guidelines of the League of Women Voters of Florida.
